Hotel for trees
June 7, 2023

Since June 1, guests at Leerhotel Het Klooster can opt for a sustainable overnight stay and have the CO2 emissions of their multi-day stay (partially) offset.

The Hotels for Trees Foundation is making a concrete contribution to a greener hotel world in which one new tree is planted for every day a guest chooses to skip room cleaning. This makes a direct contribution to the afforestation projects of partner Trees for All at home and abroad.

Hotels for Trees launched on July 1, 2021, and currently has more than 140 hotel partners with a total of 15,500 hotel rooms affiliated. The organization - which is not affiliated with any specific chain or star rating - aims to become a "hallmark" of stature in the short term and to make the hotel and meeting and events industry within Europe permanently sustainable. With the goal of growing in Europe in the coming years and, together with partners, planting at least 1 million trees a year from 2025.

To this Leerhotel Het Klooster would also like to commit.

Hotels for Trees is accessible to all star levels and low key for both the hotel and its guests: all they have to do during a multi-day stay is hang the unique Hotels for Trees door hanger on the outside of their room door.

Hotel guests who choose to participate in this initiative can see the impact of their action the very next day on the Hotels for Trees website. It is also always visible how many trees each hotel has planted per day, week, month or year and how much the total initiative has already generated.

The finances of Hotels for Trees are no secret. Hotels that participate pay € 5.00 per non-cleaned room. Of this, €4.00 is used by afforestation partner Trees for All to plant a (certified) tree. The remaining euro is used to run and further grow Hotels for Trees.
