The sun does more than shine 

On the roof of Leerhotel Het Klooster there are 238 solar panels. These solar panels provide much of the energy we use on site every day. From our meeting rooms to the lighting in the hotel rooms. Without you noticing it, your meeting is made possible by the sun. And that automatically makes your choice more conscious. 

Every ray of sunshine counts 

In March, our solar panels generated over 10780 kilowatt-hours. That's enough to power about 37 households for an entire month. An impressive output that is directly used for everything at our venue. From the lighting in the halls to the energy in the kitchen, your meeting thus runs partly on the power of the sun. Without extra effort but with a visible sustainable effect. 

Smart use of solar power 

The energy generated does not go to waste. At Leerhotel Het Klooster we use everything we generate directly on site. Thanks to a smart energy management system we always check whether the power comes from the solar panels, from the battery or from the grid. This way we make optimal use of the sun during the day and use the stored energy at night. You won't notice but your meeting will be organized in a more sustainable way. 

Less consumption, more results 

In 2024, we took a big step toward more sustainable energy use. Compared to 2023, we used a whopping 133,902 kilowatt-hours less electricity this year. That corresponds to the annual consumption of nearly 40 households. This saving is the result of a combination of factors. For example, in 2024 we generated 23,384 kilowatt hours with our solar panels. In addition, through conscious choices and smart adjustments in our daily energy use, we used structurally less electricity. With these results, we look forward with confidence to further steps towards a more sustainable future.
