In conversation with Peter Ingels, General Manager of Leerhotel Het Klooster , we discover how hospitality, education and entrepreneurship come together in one unique location. His story shows how you can build a place that continues to surprise business guests with experience, trust and innovation.

From international hospitality to meaningful education

Peter has worked his entire career in the national and international hotel industry. During the corona pandemic, he unexpectedly made the switch to education. What started as a temporary role as a branch manager at a private hotel school, led to his current position as General Manager of Leerhotel Het Klooster . “There are few people who have experience in both education and the hotel industry. That made me suitable for this unique place.”

And not unimportant: “For the first time I could cycle to work.”

Freedom to make a difference

What makes working at this location so valuable to Peter is the freedom. “I don’t have to answer to a head office. I can really do business here.” At the same time, he passes on his craftsmanship to the students. “That’s perhaps the best part. There are fewer and fewer people who want to become hotel managers. That’s precisely why transferring knowledge is so important.”

Why business guests keep coming back

For many business clients, the central location of Leerhotel Het Klooster a decisive reason to book here. The location in the heart of the country, easily accessible by both car and public transport, makes it a logical and practical choice. But once you step inside, something else comes forward that makes an even greater impression: the people.

The historic charm of the monastery adds to the experience, but it is the students and instructors who make the difference. “Our students learn here in practice. Guests find it inspiring to see that process,” says Peter. That interaction between learning and hospitality adds an extra dimension to every meeting.

What Leerhotel Het Klooster What really sets them apart, according to him, is the team of instructors. “I have never worked with a team that has so much experience,” he says. “Everyone here is a true professional. They are not only good at what they do, but also radiate pleasure in passing on their profession.” This passion is reflected in the details, in the guidance of students and especially in the professional standard that is pursued here every day. A standard that not only surprises guests, but often also exceeds their expectations.

Students make the difference

Students are indispensable in the daily work. They are well represented, which means that the support is always professional and up to standard. But more importantly: they provide energy and genuine involvement. “Guests feel that they contribute something to the learning process of the students. And students genuinely enjoy learning and growing. That interaction makes it special.”

For clients this means: every meeting not only contributes to your own goals, but also to the future of the hospitality sector.

Proud of growth and professionalization

What is Peter most proud of? “The development we have gone through as a hotel. Since I arrived, we have completely professionalized the booking process. Previously, you could only make a reservation by phone. Now we are clearly visible and accessible online.”

In addition, he sees that the team has increasingly started to think like a real hotel. “We are not just a learning environment. We offer quality at a professional level. And that starts with the realization that we take ourselves seriously as a full-fledged hotel company.”

Exceeding expectations

What business guests often say is that they are positively surprised. “People come in with the idea that things could go wrong, because it is a learning environment. But the opposite turns out to be true. The quality of our service is often higher than people expect. And that makes an impression.”

More than a meeting

Bee Leerhotel Het Klooster you are not just booking a room or a package. You are choosing an experience in which hospitality, education and craftsmanship come together. “Every day, we are working on the future of the hospitality sector. And that makes the difference.”

History

The Kruisherenzaal is an impressive space where history and modern comfort come together in a special way. The hall is named after the Kruisheren, a monastic order that inhabited the building in the 1950s. Originally, the space served as a place for ceremonial gatherings. Today it is a stylish venue for events where atmosphere and experience are key. The high ceilings, large windows and authentic details create an ambiance that adds meaning to any gathering.

Summer enjoyment inside and outside

What makes this hall especially attractive in the summer months is its direct access to the green monastery grounds. Thanks to the French doors, the program flows effortlessly from inside to outside. Whether it's a creative session in the sun, a coffee break in the open air or an informal moment of relaxation among the greenery, the connection to the outside provides peace, air and new energy. This creates space for meeting, inspiration and connection in a natural setting.
