What successes have we already achieved?

We are continuously improving sustainability at Leerhotel Het Klooster and restaurant Novice. Our sustainability team is working hard to achieve our sustainability goals. We would like to tell you what steps we have already taken to make the hotel as sustainable as possible. Below you can see some of the things we are working on, among other things:

Kitchen Garden

We have established our own vegetable garden, from which we harvest every day and through which we infuse our dishes with edible flowers, fresh herbs and delicious fruits and vegetables.

We are also using Instock more and more: Through the Instock Market you can buy more sustainably, it is the hospitality wholesaler for rescued products and thus against food waste.

Hotels for trees

The partnership with Hotels For Trees, ensures that a tree is planted for every day a hotel guest chooses to skip cleaning. This makes a tangible contribution to a greener hotel world.

The good roll

For our toilet visits, we use The Good Roll: 100% tree-friendly and sustainable toilet paper, which also donates 50% of its net profits to construction for toilets in Ghana.

LED lighting

We try to save energy as much as possible, such as with lights. The tables in Novice restaurant now have LED lights on them and we are very happy with that!

LIF Herb Garden

Restaurant Novice has recently launched LIF's own herb garden! With the vision to contribute to a greener and healthier society. So we can use fresh herbs in our dishes at any time!

Planting trees

We ourselves have planted a large number of fruit trees and shrubs in our garden. Such as, among others, apples, pears, cherries, quinces, stewing pears, kiwi berries, peaches, kiwis and Japanese wine berries. So we can pick our own fruit in the garden! Read all about the trees here.
